Countdown
The countdown is on and this has been the weirdest week of my entire life. It's almost like your senior year of high school when all of the finals are complete but you still have to show up to school for stuff until the actual graduation day. I get up and go to swim practice, head to work, schedule meetings and continue on with every day as if it's not the day I'm going to get to meet our son for the first time. Our due date is Monday 4/14/14 but it's still no guarantee that he actually wants to meet us on that day. Our doctor doesn't induce until 7 days AFTER the due date so we may be waiting another week yet. The suspense is killing me.
I have absolutely loved being pregnant. I've enjoyed watching my body change to accommodate another living being and it blows my mind that bodies can even do this. Pregnancy hormones have worked in my favor and whispered things like, "you look amazing" when I peer into the mirror to see a rotund figure looking back. I've made a point to swim as much as possible even though it's dwindled to 2 days a week for only about 30-45 minutes at the slowest pace anyone can imagine but am proud of the effort. I haven't missed a single day of work since we found out and am proud of the project and facility I'm leaving behind because I know I've set them both up to succeed in my absence.
I am so excited to watch Thomas become a father. We've had our moments during the past few months but it brings me so much joy to watch him gather and set things up in his own way to accommodate this creature we are about to bring home. The car seat has been installed for weeks, we have all new technology awaiting his arrival, there are spaces throughout the house dedicated solely to baby, and bags are packed and stowed in his car for an immediate departure. He has dutifully attended every doctor's appointment and rubbed these grossly swollen pregnant feet and not so dutifully helped with kitchen clean up (the last month has been a little rough on both of us ;).
Brodie Thomas Tenkely, we cannot wait to bring you home and smother you with love and pug kisses. Please don't keep us waiting too much longer!!
