As we edge closer to the end of our first trimester and even closer to sharing our secret with the world, I can't help but think about all it's taken to get this far and the person I am most grateful for.

For three and a half years my patient, loving and extremely annoying husband has been by my side through every emotional break down, every visit to the doctor when I asked a laundry list of questions as to why we weren't pregnant, each and every ovulation test and scheduling "time" around life, and then the emotional break down every month that time of the month came again and then each time someone else in our world got what I thought I deserved more. To say that I have been an absolute gem would be an understatement.

I am, however, absolutely grateful that I found this person who is willing to put up with me in my worst moments and willing to stick around with the hope of being present for that one brief shining moment. Now that I've gotten what I thought I deserved there is a whole new slew of challenging moments for my patient husband. The zombie who lives on the couch and slinks from soft spot to soft spot asking what he's doing every moment. The carb addict who only wants to eat spaghetti for dinner every. single. night with a late night run for bagels. The car sick screecher who can't handle a right hand turn at more than 4 miles an hour. The headache fueled vampire than can't stand light and noise past 7 p.m.

The joy of sharing this moment with our family has also been met with fear and trepidation. Will it all be okay? Will we have a successful pregnancy? For me - can this man I am so grateful for have enough patience for the rest of our lifetime together? I guess only time will tell. Until then, this kumquat and I will try to figure out how to share this body of mine without coming to blows.

    1. Funny.... I remember you poking and prodding your teenage sister to get these reactions. Then you left for college and we became friends again ;) #instigator #antagonist
