Boobies

Breast feeding is by far the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Getting pregnant = at the time I thought it was insurmountable but we did it. Being pregnant = absolute joy. My hormones we raging, I felt amazing, it was the best experience ever. Giving birth = drugs are awesome and knowing what I know now I would definitely do it again. Feeding a baby on demand using boobies = hardest. thing. ever.

The challenges have changed and morphed week by week. Just when I think I've got it down and remind myself to stop complaining a new challenge surfaces. It's not only physically taxing but mentally taxing. What time is it? I need to pump. How much have I pumped? Not enough. When will the pumping end? Never.

After... yes after... rounding up all the gear necessary for this kid to play hockey, we figured it was a good idea to take him ice skating. I guess I could have just bought skates first, as opposed to completely filling his hockey bag, but he and I got excited. So we grabbed our skates, jackets, and loaded up to go to a public session. 10 minutes from the rink... and everyone in the car was asleep. WTF? I parked, gave them a couple minutes, then asked Traci if I should wake him. When he found out we were there, he snapped awake and we were off! With hoodie deployed we laced up and set off for the ice. He was could not contain his excitement. He did great, and more importantly, loved every second of it! He had me hold him under his arms and skate him around the ice telling me, "Faster!" He even added a few "Whoooooos" in the mix. As we edge closer to the end of our first trimester and even closer to sharing our secret with the world, I can't help but think about all it's taken to get this far and the person I am most grateful for. For three and a half years my patient, loving and extremely annoying husband has been by my side through every emotional break down, every visit to the doctor when I asked a laundry list of questions as to why we weren't pregnant, each and every ovulation test and scheduling "time" around life, and then the emotional break down every month that time of the month came again and then each time someone else in our world got what I thought I deserved more. To say that I have been an absolute gem would be an understatement. I am, however, absolutely grateful that I found this person who is willing to put up with me in my worst moments and willing to stick around with the hope of being present for that one brief shining moment. Baby Brother and Baby Sister

As soon as Brodie started to recognize and understand that mama had a baby in her belly he's made an interesting assumption. He often tells me he has a baby sister for me then points to his belly and sometimes pulls a cabbage patch kid from under his shirt. So it appears - he has a baby sister in his belly and I have a baby brother in my belly.
